From Buddha to Jesus - Steve Cioccolanti
Fantastic book I bought yesterday at Attributes and finished today! Haha, its so addictive, with its 14 size Times New Roman font, in an easy to read language and layout that I just had to finish it.
The author compares similarities between Buddhism and Christianity and the parallels are so amazing. He is a senior pastor of Discover Church in Australia but was brought up in Thailand in a family of Buddhists, Catholics, Muslims and Methodists. Interesting background that brought him to know and understand deeply about Buddhist teachings.
This for both Buddhists and Christians to understand about the other's teachings. I admire the fact that the author uses the original Pali and Sanskrit languages and transliterated them to provide for a clearer understanding of Buddhist teachings and their meanings. Fascinating read. I've learnt so much about Buddhism in the few hours of reading this book than in the 20 years I've lived on this earth, in Singapore to boot.
Great read for everyone!
Its a pity the author relied on certain Internet resources for references and could have used more texts, but then again, it would have been hard to, given that there is no agreed form on the Tripitaka. So it's not a scholarly read for theologians, but a very practical book for the layman. A bit of repetition at the end, but great read nonetheless!
